Surgery it is

Today has been a very long day. We had to leave here before 8AM to get to Serren's appt. with the surgeon. For those of you who know Aaron, that makes for a very BAD day! He likes his sleep. Anywho, Dr. Ricketts has Serren's surgery scheduled for Feb. 26th. We are all still hopeful that it won't be necessary, but in the event that things don't change drastically he will go ahead with it. He's much undecided b/c she has good days, even great. She even gained 3oz. this week. Last week, however, she lost 7oz. and had more than a few episodes of blue lips. The upcoming surgery is much more invasive and is more difficult on both Serren and Dr. Ricketts. We will all just have to keep praying and God will work things out as He sees fit.

We also had an appt. with Aaron's new speech therapist. She is wonderful and realized his potential right away. She feels like 2 sessions a week for maybe the next year should get all of his issues ironed out. He went right back with her and used every word he knows. She understood most of what he was trying to say but when she didn't he showed her his frustration but never shut down. We were so impressed. Ms. Laurie is very excited to be working with him and even told us that she couldn't finish all of his language skills test b/c he was so confident and had so much to say to her that he just kept moving on without her. She said that right now her diagnosis for him is also Aproxia (sp), but she's not totally convinced that that's what we're dealing with. Time will tell her more.

All in all not a terrible day, but certainly a trying one. I am off to beddy by. It's another early morning for us as we meet our new photographer. I'll let ya know more of the goings on as they go on.
